The Neighbourhood
Starting out at the Cocosol Reception...
The roundabout in front of you has a sculpture of an old-fashioned iron in the middle of it!
Looking across the road from Cocosol you will see the building site where 19 villas have been built. They are called "Ocean Villas".
Head left from the Cocosol Reception, walking past the green Cocosol wall.
Keep on walking straight ahead, you will also pass along the back of the Paraiso complex.
You will eventually arrive at a road junction. There is a telephone box on the corner.
TURNING RIGHT:
If you look to the right you will see the new Antigua Bay complex down the hill. Situated beneath this complex are various shops and restaurants.
Better Buys
Looking to the left is "The Chippy"
Diamonds Music & Sports Bar
Rumours
Villa Pizza, offering pizzas, pies etc to take away or eat in, plus a bar service.
Bits & Pieces, a shop selling British goods ranging from food items to kitchen utensils, pine furniture, garden furniture, christmas decorations etc.
Jinxing - Chinese Restaurant, highly recommended!!
Property is the Best Investment, estate agents.
Mustang Sally's - closed!
A two minute stroll from this point takes you to the coastal path. Here you can walk along the coastline to Caleta de Fuste, ride along the cycle path or maybe stop to feed the chipmunks along the way.
TURNING LEFT:
Across the road on your right you will see Volvoreta. This bakery/restaurant has moved from around the corner. This premises offers a much larger restaurant and shop area.
This is situated at the front of the Torres del Castillo complex.
On your left you will pass Kavanaghs Irish Bar and restaurant. They serve very good value meals here. Our particular favourites are the breakfasts, but Kavanaghs hold specials nights such as "Curry Night" or "Fish and Chips". Watch out for the daily specials on the noticeboards outside.
If you look to the right at the top of the road you will see the Castillo de Elba Hotel by the roundabout. This is where you pick up the free bus to the Atlantico Centre and where you get dropped off after your journey.
Follow the footpath around the corner to the left and you will find Los Remos. This restaurant is attached to the hotel, Costa Tropical, but they serve up a splendid 3 course set meal each day for a very reasonable price.
You can also go into the hotel restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. This is a self-serve buffet style restaurant. There are set prices, just pay the waiter/waitress before you leave.
After Los Remos is the supermarket. It is open daily, shutting at approx 8:00pm.
Just past the supermarket is the Cash dispenser.
Just here, also, is the taxi rank. Just wait here and taxis regularly stop. It is approximately 3 euros to Caleta de Fuste.
Walk around the next corner passing the hotel main entrance on your left and you will find Mama Mia Pizzeria.
This is also part of the hotel complex but is open to the general public also.
